What happened when Luton played Forest Green last season?

Luton won 4-3 in one of the wildest ties of the 2025/26 FA Cup. It was played on a Friday night, Halloween 2025, in front of 4,511 fans at Kenilworth Road, and it was the first tie of the first round.

For an hour, Jack Wilshere's League One side looked comfortable. Lamine Fanne opened the scoring after 23 minutes, and Nahki Wells added a second before half-time. Wells struck again eight minutes after the break. 3-0.

Then Robbie Savage's National League side came roaring back. Tom Knowles pulled one back on 61 minutes, Kyle McAllister scored a penalty on 68, and Aidan Dausch levelled at 3-3 with 11 minutes left. The away end went wild.

It took a substitute to settle it. Gideon Kodua scored two minutes into stoppage time to send the Hatters through. Forest Green finished with 16 shots to Luton's nine, a measure of how hard the non-league side pushed.

Why are both teams wearing Reflo kits?

What can we expect this time?

Luton are favourites again. Wilshere's side are chasing promotion from League One and arrive unbeaten in five, with four straight wins before Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield.

Forest Green had to work to get here. Chesham United held them 0-0 in the fourth qualifying round, before Rovers won the replay 5-0 with five different scorers. Their league form is less settled: last weekend they drew 2-2 with Harrogate Town after leading 2-0 at half-time. They will also be without striker Ricardo Rees, who is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.

Last year proved that a three-goal lead is not safe in this fixture. Wilshere will want a calmer afternoon. Forest Green will want to finish the job they nearly pulled off 12 months ago.
